Here’s a way to save money
making chocolate syrup. The syrup is
very much like Hershey’s chocolate
syrup. It makes about 3 cups.
Use one cup of unsweetened cocoa
powder, two cups of sugar, one quarter
teaspoon salt, 1-1/4 cup of water and
1 tbsp. Vanilla. In a saucepan combine
the cocoa, sugar and salt and mix them
thoroughly so that no lumps remain.
Then add the water and stir over
medium heat until the sugar dissolves
but don’t boil. Remove from heat and
stir in the vanilla. You can store this in
the refrigerator for three months. It will
become very thick when it’s cold but
thins out once reheated.
Good on ice cream or to make
chocolate milk or mocha coffee. Much
cheaper than the store bought syrup.
Takes about 10 minutes to prepare.
